Ohara Davies lifts lid on rough road to professional boxing

Promising super-lightweight Ohara Davies has offered a characteristically honest insight into the obstacles he conquered to become a professional fighter.
The 24-year-old was born and raised in Hackney in east London and grew up on the Kingsmead estate, entering a life of crime in his youth.
Having discovered boxing, Davies resolved to 'make it'. It was not simply a question of adjusting his lifestyle, however, as financial constraints hampered his ability to buy the requisite equipment and attend training sessions.
Whether it was agonising saving up to purchase boxing gloves or honing his craft at sneaking onto buses without paying, Davies did what he could to refine his natural fighting talent into sporting excellence.
With little or no support, Davies' grim determination saw him climb the ladder and ultimately turn professional in April 2014. Within 11 bouts, his heavy hands gripped the English lightweight title.
Now operating at 140lbs, the future before Davies seems rosy - but how does he feel about how he got here? Does he still have 'love for the 'hood', as they say...?
