Anthony Joshua says Tyson Fury will overcome problems and return to the ring

British heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury speaks during a press conference

Anthony Joshua has sent a message of support to Tyson Fury who is battling to overcome his current mental health issues and says he is convinced the reigning world heavyweight champion will fight again.

Joshua is being lined up to face Wladimir Klitschko in a possible unification contest with Fury in danger of being stripped of his world titles after reportedly testing positive for cocaine.

Fury's public statements have become increasingly erratic in recent days with the 28-year-old announcing his retirement on Twitter on Monday only to reverse his decision hours later.

And the British Boxing Board of Control could decide to take away his licence next week after he admitted in an interview with Rolling Stone that he had taken cocaine on "many, many occasions" in the last six months.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has indicated there is a good chance Joshua could face Klitschko before the end of the year - and Joshua insists he would leap at the chance to take on the former champion.

Joshua added: "A year ago I knew I needed more time before I fought a guy like Klitschko but a year has passed and I'm more mature and comfortable with it.

Eddie Hearn says he's feeling confident Anthony Joshua will face Wladimir Klitschko by the end of the year

"I feel like this path was laid out for me. I've come up and won the belt and with Tyson also winning the belts it opened up the division and has given me the opportunity.

"It's all about creating the legacy and it's both an opportunity for me to win another belt and for Klitschko to win his back. It's the fight everyone wants to see."
