Bellew vs Flores: Pressure on Ryan Burnett, says Ryan Farrag
Wednesday 12 October 2016 18:56, UK
Ryan Farrag says that all the pressure is on British champion Ryan Burnett when the pair clash at the Echo Arena on Saturday night.
The two bantamweights battle as part of a huge night of action in Liverpool as Tony Bellew defends his WBC world cruiserweight title against BJ Flores.
Belfast's Burnett (14-0-KO9) goes into the fight as favourite, but will have his work cut out against former European and English champ Farrag (16-2-KO4), the local challenger who will be hoping to cause an upset and add the Lonsdale belt to his collection.
Farrag said: "All of the pressure is on Ryan in this fight because he is the champion, he is coming into my backyard and I will just be going in relaxed and am going to enjoy it, whereas he is the one with the belt to lose.
"I expect Ryan to be cagey but if he comes out and tries to fight, then I will be there and will meet him in the middle. I'm ready for him to be on his toes quite a lot and I'll be looking to make the ring as small as possible.
"This fight is a big step up for him. He is a good fighter with quick hands and I'm sure he will give me a few problems, but it won't be anything I haven't dealt with before."
Farrag will have the fans on his side as Burnett travels to his backyard and the Liverpool bantamweight is unsure as to how it will affect his Belfast counterpart.
"I am 100 per cent confident of getting the victory and I will be excited to be in there with somebody with such a big reputation because when you beat those fellas you get the rewards.
"It doesn't matter to me where I am fighting or who the crowd is behind, but for Ryan it might be different. Maybe he will feel a bit of pressure and that might affect his boxing but at the end of the day there is only me and him in the ring, so I am the only person that he needs to worry about."
