Promoter Eddie Hearn believes Amir Khan has shown fresh desire to fight Kell Brook and hopes there could be a "real chance" of the British battle taking place in 2017.

The welterweight rivals have again raised hopes of a domestic clash after another exchange on social media, with Khan suggesting he would consider a 'tune-up' fight against Brook.

IBF champion Brook revealed there had been fresh contact between the two teams and his promoter Hearn remains hopeful, although he is yet to open negotiations.

He's obviously talking about it quite a lot on social media, which is always a good sign. I think there is a real chance.

Hearn, who talked to Khan at this week's WBC convention, told Sky Sports: "I had a brief chat. I just said that I'm speaking to [Khan's adviser] Asif [Vali]. I wouldn't say we are in talks, but we've had a few conversations and there seems to be a desire from Amir to look at the fight.

"He's obviously talking about it quite a lot on social media, which is always a good sign. I think there is a real chance.

"I try not to get too excited and we just keep the talks going behind closed doors, and hopefully we can get it over the line."

Anthony Joshua's heavyweight unification fight with Wladimir Klitschko has already been booked for Wembley on April 29, live on Sky Sports Box Office, and Hearn refused to rule out staging Brook-Khan at the national stadium, but is also looking at other venues in northern England.

Asked about another Wembley fight in 2017, he said: "Yeah possibly. I think they are looking at the end of May and the only date we have got here is June 4.

"It might be a fight to take up north, because obviously you've got (David) Haye-(Tony) Bellew and Joshua-Klitschko here, so I think maybe that's a time to take one up north for later in the year."
