The sixth round of the all-Birmingham clash between Sam Eggington and Frankie Gavin

The battle of Birmingham produced one of the standout rounds of the year as Gavin and Eggington went toe-to-toe.

Eggington dominated the opening two minutes, firing shots and rocking Gavin's head back. A sickening body shot eventually led to the referee administrating a standing eight count.

However, Gavin found his second wind in the last moments, biting down on his gumshield and teeing off on the Eggington head. A glance of respect between the pair ended the round in an epic three minutes.

The second round of the middleweight clash between Kell Brook and Gennady Golovkin

Brook proved many doubters wrong in round two of his fight against the much-vaunted Golovkin. The Sheffield star, who was moving up two weight classes for the chance to become unified middleweight champion, started off boxing and moving as he looked to frustrate the heavy-handed Kazakh.

Sensing the jab was starting to land, Brook threw an uppercut with 45 seconds to go which lifted Golovkin off his feet much to the amazement of the O2 crowd. The pair then went looking for each other, throwing heavy artillery in an absorbing session.

Hosea Burton v Frankie Buglioni - Round 12

The explosive 12th round between Frank Buglioni and Hosea Burton at the Manchester Arena

The Lonsdale Belt at light-heavyweight produced a classic dust-up in one of the fights of the year.

Going into the last round, the general feeling at ringside was that Buglioni needed a knockout to win.

Having been dropped in the previous session, Burton started the round well and controlling things with his jab and straight right.

However, with a minute to go, 'Wise Guy' Buglioni dipped his knees and threw an overhand right that dropped the champion to the floor. While Burton did well to make it to his feet, he had not recovered and Buglioni went in to finish the job.

Dillian Whyte v Dereck Chisora - Round 5

The fifth round of the heavyweight clash between Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora

Let's be honest, we could have picked most of the 12 pulsating rounds, but the fifth lit the blue touch paper and established Chisora as a genuine threat.

He started off on the front foot, but the way he landed his left had Whyte in trouble early on.

A clever counter-right broke the flow but the right downstairs then the left up top saw him dominate before a big right had the 'Body Snatcher' wobbling.

Chisora kept pressing but as the round closed, Whyte's right came into play and as the bell sounded, both landed big shots. And for the first time, there was a nod of approval from both.
