Sticks and stones may break my bones... but words have also done some major damage in boxing over the last year.

There are too many verbal battles in 2016 so here is the second part that takes us through from July to December...

David Haye says Anthony Joshua should take on Deontay Wilder as soon as possible

"Right now, I think it'd be a very safe fight for Joshua to opt to fight Wilder as soon as possible. Now he knows Wilder's got one arm, there's no better time."
David Haye watched an injured Deontay Wilder's title defence, and thought he emerged vulnerable.

"When I went into boxing very few thought I would reach championship level. To win the title now would mean the world to me but I already feel like a winner because of the journey I've been on."
Former footballer Leon McKenzie was confirmed as the next challenger to the English super-middleweight title.

I've boxed Joshua's head off on several occasions. I've sparred all the best heavyweights in the world, Fury, Klitschko and Joshua, and I belong at the top with those guys.
Dave Allen

"I know history like Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran. Manny Pacquiao, he came up to junior middleweight and beat Oscar De La Hoya, Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito. This is the biggest test for me."
Gennady Golovkin was wary of welterweight king Kell Brook stepping up two divisions.

"We got into a position where everybody was ready to sign. He (Eubank Jr) was offered the same pay-per-view deal as Anthony Joshua, Carl Froch and the one that Kell Brook accepted. Unfortunately they (the Eubanks) made the deal impossible."
Promoter Eddie Hearn explains how Chris Eubank Jr vs Gennady Golovkin fell apart.

The food in Bolton was… different. But, when I went to London I liked it. And Manchester was okay. In Bolton, it took a while for me to get used to it...
Cassius Chaney on life in Tyson Fury's training camp!

"The Russians are constantly being accused of something. Let's deal with these things in a dignified way. There were judges sitting there, professionals who take responsibility for these things. Why is there this mistrust all the time?"
Russian boxing federation defend the Olympic judging, after Ireland's Michael Conlan controversially lost.

"It's difficult keeping that facade up, 24-7, all the time. When a bad day does come, all that goodness disappears and the bad comes in. People need to come forward and talk about such things."
Dave Allen bravely opened up about struggling with mental health issues.

Highlights of Kell Brook v Gennady Golovkin

Gennady Golovkin stopped Kell Brook then suggested he stay below the 160lbs limit.

"Five years in the making, this fight. I'm so glad we're finally here now. It's been a difficult fight to make. Getting Braehmer into a boxing ring with me has been difficult."
Nathan Cleverly on the verge of challenging Juergen Braehmer after cancellations.

I'd expect a call from Floyd Mayweather. Floyd will be sat there watching and think: 'There's only two people who have beaten Alvarez. One's me and one's Liam Smith so I'll give him a date for fight No 50 next year'.
Joe Gallagher couldn't lead Smith past Canelo

"Tyson has been declared medically unfit to fight. Medical specialists have advised that the condition is too severe to allow him to participate in the rematch and that he will require treatment before going back into the ring."
Peter Fury announced the cancellation of Tyson Fury's rematch with Wladimir Klitschko. The champion, shortly after, would be stripped of his titles.

"In his day, Linares was unbelievable but I just think he's a little bit past his best. He's had a lot of inactivity, a bad hand and we all know he struggles to make weight."
Kevin Mitchell, who lost to Jorge Linares, was wrong. Linares came to Manchester and took Anthony Crolla's world title.

Tony Bellew's rant towards David Haye after he stopped BJ Flores

"You see him [Haye]? He's been conning the British public since his pathetic comeback started. The last two guys you fought are working on nightclub doors, or they're putting the bins out. You see you? You're gonna get smashed too. With 10 ounce gloves on, I'll put you and your pathetic haircut to sleep."
Tony Bellew knocked out BJ Flores and made a beeline for David Haye, who was at ringside.

"I know it will be the next fight. They will not be allowed to have another fight in between, so it shouldn't be too long."
Callum Smith is mandatory for the winner of James DeGale vs Badou Jack, a world super-middleweight title unifier.

David Haye backed out, he's not a man of his word. It boils down to basically him being an opportunist. He took advantage of me fighting on his card. Then afterwards, he went looking for another fight, an easier fight and some would say a more lucrative fight.
Shannon Briggs

"I personally believe he will be back in February. I speak to Tyson on Twitter. I send him private messages, saying 'Hi, how are you? Let me know if you're okay,' and stuff like that. After you've finished fighting, you just look at it and say that was a great fight."
Dereck Chisora sends sympathy to a former opponent, Tyson Fury.

"I don't like bullies, I don't advocate bullying and I've never been bullied, and that's not going to change in this fight."

Promoter Eddie Hearn was drawn into a war of words with David Haye

"If he thinks that's a punch, he's got another thing coming. All I remember is he pushed me and I pushed him back. It's unnecessary. I never initiate things unless I feel threatened. I didn't really feel threatened today, but once he put his hands on me I sort of struck back a little bit."
David Haye reacts to his press conference scuffle with Tony Bellew.

"I don't think there will be anyone who will have an easy night against me. I don't think that's the fighter that I am anymore. If he slips up one bit, it's going to be a long night for him."
Eric Molina was full of optimism before challenging Anthony Joshua.

When one guy is doing good, it makes all the others want to achieve greatness. It's contagious to do great. But once that one bad apple falls, everybody else will fall, and that's how it is.
Deontay Wilder on Anthony Joshua

"Yes, he dropped me in sparring and I continued training and that's why I am here now. In a sense, you have to look at these things as a blessing in disguise because in boxing, a lot of people get dropped, get hurt and then go on and do great things."
Anthony Joshua admits he was floored by David Price in sparring.

"There is always doubt in everybody. When I had the halo on my head and screws in my skull, I looked in the mirror many a night and said 'what are you doing Vinny Paz?'
Vinny Paz discusses his recovery from a broken neck - the plot of new film Bleed For This.

The table throwing incident!

"Me and Dereck both know [what would happen] if we were left in a room with no security. When I stepped to him and threw punches, he was scared. You have two security guards and they both got manhandled. You lost the battle already."
Dillian Whyte jibes at Dereck Chisora, prompting a table to be overthrown in a fiery press conference.

"I've already agreed to fight them before and now he's world champion, it makes it even more of an attractive proposition to fight him."
David Price claims he has been offered a crack at new WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker.

I'm really still in shock. This is my last fight, I promised it would be and you come to that point in life where it is final and I'm happy with my retirement. I know the fans will know I went out as a soldier, fighting the toughest, baddest opponents.
Bernard Hopkins

"I've been missing it. I was very comfortable where I was. I look at it philosophically, in a certain way. How fast life turns around. Life is an interesting thing - I'm getting to the press conference, I'm waiting for the champ, and in a certain way, it's a déjà vu."
Wladimir Klitschko insists challenging for Anthony Joshua's world title has re-ignited his desire.

"The bookies have got it even, 50:50. Can you believe that? "The casuals think he knocks me out."
James DeGale, before unifying titles with Badou Jack, isn't taking Callum Smith seriously.
