Isaac Chamberlain reveals mentality to persevere through in-ring injuries

Isaac Chamberlain throws a straight right at Wadi Camacho during their Southern Area Championship contest

NXTGEN prospect Isaac Chamberlain believes that winning his previous fight despite a dislocated shoulder is a warning to future opponents.

The 6-0 cruiserweight is on Friday's York Hall bill, live on Sky Sports, against an unconfirmed rival in his first fight since overcoming the shoulder injury to out-point Wadi Camacho.

"Nobody wants to fight a guy who pulls out his shoulder, puts it back in, then wins because they know it will be a long night," Chamberlain exclusively told Sky Sports.

I'm not quitting. Nobody wants to fight a guy like that, it's demonic.

"I'm not quitting. Nobody wants to fight a guy like that, it's demonic.

"I've been doing it in the gym for so long, so why would I stop at the first hurdle? It looks like the first hurdle to others but there have been times when I haven't wanted to go to the gym, but I still have. I've learned how bad I want this, and I've shown it.

"The one thing you can't buy is my experience in six fights. I go into the ring with an old head on young shoulders because I've had tough tests. I suffered a rib fracture against Russ Henshaw then stopped him, and a shoulder injury with Wadi.

"I've had the short end of the stick, I've not been given anything. I've had to jump into fights ahead of my time, sink or swim.

"I've gained so much experience from my first 10-rounder. I know when to put on pressure, when to back off.

"From the sixth round, things are different - that's what Andre Ward told me. That's when the real fight starts, when you adapt to his power and rhythm."
