Gennady Golovkin will not follow Floyd Mayweather's winning tactics when he battles Saul Alvarez

Gennady Golovkin will disregard Floyd Mayweather's winning tactics against Saul Alvarez as he does not want a "lacklustre" fight, says his trainer Abel Sanchez.

The fearsome Kazakh is preparing to face Alvarez in an eagerly awaited showdown on September 16, with Mayweather this week insisting that 'GGG' will suffer his first defeat in a 37-fight unbeaten career.

Mayweather inflicted the sole loss on Alvarez's record, completing a masterful points win in 2013, but Golovkin's trainer Sanchez says there is more than one blueprint to beat the Mexican star.

"Mayweather is more of a safety first fighter and I think that's what made it a lacklustre fight, even though he was dominant," Sanchez exclusively told Sky Sports.

"The fans are looking for entertainment and entertainment from two guys who come forward has to be the kind of fight that people enjoy."

The Golovkin-Alvarez fight was finally confirmed last month and Sanchez believes Anthony Joshua's huge Wembley clash with Wladimir Klitschko paved the way for more major fights to be made this year.

"I think that Joshua-Klitschko set the tone for the beginning of the year," said Sanchez. "Jacobs-Golovkin also set the tone for the beginning of the year and I think in 2017 we're going to get more fights like this.

"Saul has got very fast hands, throws nice combinations and he is a come-forward kind of guy, so we're going to have two come-forward guys with real good hand speed. Neither guy has got the Floyd Mayweather defence, so they are going to hit each other and it's going to be a great fight.

"They are going to make for the kind of fight that we have been used to in the past and we saw a little bit of in the Klitschko-Joshua fight.

"Two guys who will stand and use their skills and, yes, they are going to hit each other, because that is boxing, and the guy who has the most grit and the most determination is going to win the fight."

Golovkin was taken the distance in a narrow points win over Daniel Jacobs in March and Sanchez suggests he could open up a wider decision over Alvarez, but would not be surprised if his fighter forces a stoppage.

He said: "I see Golovkin winning going away, but if Golovkin is able to tag him in the second part of the fight - he may stop him late.

"Again, like with Kell [Brook], Golovkin just being the heavier puncher and the more physical guy. Canelo will wear down, but it's going to be a very entertaining fight."
