Tyson Fury posted a scathing response on social media after being branded as 'boring' by Anthony Joshua and wants a British battle before the end of the year.
Joshua dismissed Fury's criticism of his Wembley win over Wladimir Klitschko, accusing the former world champion of failing to entertain the fans during his points win over the Ukrainian in 2015.
But Fury swiftly issued a reply on his Instagram account, which takes a swipe at Joshua for suffering the first knockdown of his professional career before he climbed off the canvas to stop Klitschko in the 11th round.
"Better to win and be boring than getting dropped all over the floor and scraping a win," said Fury. "I never got punched, you got carried off the canvas nearly.
"But winning is winning whether you win by an inch or a mile. It's still winning and I still won.
"Let's get it on then. I don't need no warm-up fights."
Fury's return to boxing has been put on hold until the outcome of a UKAD hearing that is yet to reach a final ruling on his suspended drugs ban, but he suggested that a Joshua fight can still take place in 2017.
He later made a reference to Floyd Mayweather while discussing Joshua's comments in a further video on social media.
"Now AJ says I'm a boring fighter, but then looks up to Floyd Mayweather," said Fury. "Floyd has been a master of hitting and not being hit back, and if you look at his last 10 fights he has maybe had one knockout.
"It's not about the power, how hard you can punch, how good you can take one.
"It's about the defence and hitting them and not taking the return. Almost like a fighter jet flying in the sky, he hits and then manoeuvres fast, so he doesn't get any returns, and that's what boxing is about."
