Jamie Moore says that Floyd Mayweather has a style that could work well in MMA ahead of the American’s cross-code boxing clash against UFC star Conor McGregor.
It might be a strange thing on the surface, but I do believe that Floyd Mayweather is maybe someone who could be effective in MMA because of his brain and his style.
You need a really athletic person who is adaptable, someone whose brain is programmed to work out problems and quickly find the solutions.
As we know, Mayweather likes boxing and I believe someone would struggle to really get hold of him inside the cage and pin him down.
For someone to come over from boxing, most would probably say that a very good pressure fighter, someone stocky and strong, would work to better effect, but Mayweather would pose a new style to the sport that could possibly work.
McGregor is making the switch in the opposite direction and you never know, he might shock the world, but I do believe Mayweather will win the fight hands down.
McGregor's got to make it as uncomfortable as possible and take Mayweather by surprise, we know he is not going to win a boxing match with him.
Even the best boxers of the last 10 years have been barely able to lay a glove on him, so all you can do is try and be unconventional.
Mayweather's brain is trained and programmed so well to read a boxer's rhythm and anticipate what they are going to do, McGregor has to try and bring something different that can't be anticipated and throw punches from different styles and angles.
From what I have seen in the build-up he doesn't look like he is trying to go down the conventional boxing route which I think is a good thing, it gives him his best chance of winning.
