Deontay Wilder says he wants to fight Anthony Joshua to prove he is the No 1 heavyweight

Deontay Wilder has "declared war" on Anthony Joshua and challenged the Brit to meet him in the ring.

Wilder emphatically stopped Bermane Stiverne inside three minutes of their world title rematch on Sunday morning as he made the sixth successive defence of his WBC belt at the Barclays Center, Brooklyn.

I've been waiting on the fight for a long time, listen 'AJ', I declare war on you. Do you accept my challenge?

Having destructively fulfilled his mandatory obligations against the Haitian, attention quickly turned to what would be next for the unbeaten American and Wilder sent out a chilling message to heavyweight rival Joshua, the IBF and WBA 'Super' world champion.

Speaking after his stunning knockout victory, 'The Bronze Bomber' said: "I've been waiting on the fight for a long time, listen 'AJ', I declare war on you. Do you accept my challenge?

"I've been waiting for a long time. I know I'm the champion, I know I'm the best, are you up for the test?

"They are trying to give me a peasant in [Dillian] Whyte but I want the king Joshua.

"A king doesn't chase a peasant, I don't chase peasants, I want Joshua. If Joshua doesn't give me that fight then we have other routes.
