Luke Campbell says there is "definitely talk" about a Vasyl Lomachenko fight and would welcome the opportunity to test his skills against a fellow Olympic gold medallist.

The Ukrainian two-weight world champion is expected to firstly target Jorge Linares in a move up to lightweight, but a potential bout with Campbell in Britain could also feature in plans for one of the sport's best pound-for-pound fighters.

Top Rank, who guide the career of Lomachenko, are ready to offer a three-fight co-promotional deal to Campbell, according to reports in America, which could lead to a showdown between the two former amateur stars.

"There is definitely talk about a potential fight between me and Lomachenko," Campbell told Sky Sports. "This is why I'm in boxing. I'm in boxing to face the best, fight the best, and beat the best.

"This is a massive fight. He's a two-time Olympic champion, I'm Olympic champion. He's a world champion, but I want that world title as well.

"A fight between me and him, I'm definitely up for. I love a challenge and I think it would be a great fight."

Lomachenko is due to return on May 12, with Madison Square Garden in New York the expected location, and Campbell could appear on the undercard.

The Hull man claimed gold at bantamweight in the London 2012 games, while Lomachenko became Olympic champion at lightweight, following up his featherweight gold four years earlier in Beijing.

Campbell added: "You get a lot of people sometimes complaining about fights not being made, because it's a business. I want to fight the best and why should anyone put negativity on it?

Why wouldn't I want to challenge myself against someone like that? I've got skill, speed, power, heart, and I'll fight anyone.

"He's probably pound-for-pound best on the planet, and that's my opinion, so I highly rate him but why wouldn't I want to challenge myself against someone like that? I've got skill, speed, power, heart, and I'll fight anyone."

The more immediate options for Campbell could include a rematch with Yvan Mendy, who defeated him on points in 2015, while he also remains eager to avenge a debatable decision loss to Linares, or face domestic rival Anthony Crolla.

He said: "If you put Lomachenko out the window for a second, for me, my first two biggest fights I want, I want to clean my record. I want Mendy. I need to clean that loss. I want Linares. I need to clean that loss, and it's two fights I'm certainly capable, confident that I can beat.

"Then there's another big fight with me and Anthony Crolla. There's three guys right there that are all potentially very big fights, and you've also got Lomachenko waiting there as well."
