Anthony Fowler stops Ryan Toms

Anthony Fowler produced a spiteful performance as he stopped Ryan Toms in front of his home fans in Liverpool.

The Merseysider was scheduled to go eight rounds for the first time in his career but he got the job done much quicker, finishing his experienced foe with a crippling right hand to the body in the second.

The Rio 2016 Olympian, now with a record of 6-0 in the paid ranks, got on the front foot immediately as he stalked down Toms and unloaded heavy-handed combinations in the first three minutes.

Clearly a level above, Fowler maintained his dominance before finding a beautifully picked body shot that left Toms in agony on the canvas unable to continue.

"It was a good shot to finish it, but I wanted to go the rounds in there." the 27-year-old said afterwards. "I think he could have got up there, I wanted a bit more of a fight.

"I'm learning so much in the gym and I want to show it in the ring. I'm like a man possessed and I'm so grateful to fight in my home city,"
