Jamie McDonnell weighed in lighter than Naoya Inoue ahead of his WBA bantamweight world title defence on Friday, live on Sky Sports.
McDonnell (29-2-1-KO13) tipped the scales at 8st 5lbs 8oz in Tokyo, while his opponent came in bang on the 8st 6lbs limit ahead of the long-awaited clash at the Ota-City General Gymnasium.
Inoue (15-0-KO13), a two-weight world champion, is making his debut at bantamweight as he looks to continue his devastating rise through the ranks.
The Japanese star, nicknamed 'Monster', has reigned at light-flyweight and super-flyweight previously, and will concede 5" in height to long-standing champion McDonnell.
Friday marks the seventh defence of the WBA belt for the Doncaster champion and, despite Inoue being the man coming up in weight, it was the 32-year-old who surprisingly came in lighter.
Watch Jamie McDonnell, in Tokyo, on Friday, May 25, from 1pm, live on Sky Sports Action before Kal Yafai takes on David Carmona in the early hours of Sunday morning, from 2.30am, on Sky Sports Action.
