Jerwin Ancajas retained his IBF super-flyweight world title with a unanimous points win over Jonas Sultan, in California.

The Filipino was in control from start to finish, outclassing his dogged compatriot with the 119-109, 119-109, 117-111 scoring underlying his superiority.

Ancajas proved his technical skill but with WBA champion Kal Yafai making his American debut at the Save Mart Arena, in Fresno, he was ultimately overshadowed by the British star.

Kal Yafai floored David Cardoma three times on his way to an impressive win, his first on American soil as a professional.

The IBF holder refused to rule out a unification showdown with Yafai after he made it five defences in just 16 months.

Sultan did his best to bring back memories of Philippine legend, Manny Pacquiao's wars, but despite a decent third round, he was always second best to the country's only current world champion.

Ancajas controlled the pace, happy to lead from the front or sit back and pick his opponent off, whenever he pushed forward.

The combinations were crisp and well-placed but with the Californian clearly unimpressed by the lack of knockout action, it was always likely to go the distance.
