Ricky Hatton is baffled by Shane Mosley's decision to make a comeback against Ricardo Mayorga just two weeks short of his 44th birthday.
The Hitman made a return to the ring himself in 2012 after three troubled years out but was quick to advise friend Oscar de la Hoya against fighting again earlier this summer.
With the likes of Antonio Tarver, James Toney and Roy Jones Jr still in action, the volume of veteran fighters staying active appears to be on the rise but former two-weight world champion Hatton sees no reason for Mosley (47-9-1-KO39) to come back after nearly two years out.
"Mosley is due to fight Ricardo Mayorga and it's mind-boggling," he told Sky Sports.
"It's not like my comeback, where I felt I had let people down. He was a model professional who has been in some great fights and doesn't need the money.
"Oscar had his troubles and so do I so you can understand us wanting a match to redeem ourselves but Shane has been a great servant, has got the money and it's just a mind-boggler.

"It felt the same in the gym. The sparring was great and the training great but like all fighters have said, when the bell goes in the ring it hits home that you haven't got it any more.
"After one or two rounds, I knew I wasn't the same fighter. That's what happened to most of the fighters. My comeback was a defeat but it was a success because I fought all my demons and got back in shape.
"I'm sure Oscar had his reasons why he wanted to make a comeback. You then hear Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank saying they want to make a comeback but you don't want to see those guys get hurt.
"It's all we know. It's all we've done our working life and it's very hard to say goodbye. I started when I was 10 and it was my main job when I left school. Then all of a sudden when you haven't got it any more, it's very difficult."
Saturday night's rematch between Mosley and Mayorga has still not been confirned, due to a dispute between the Nicaraguan and Don King, but Mosley insists he will be fighting someone at the Forum in Inglewood, California.
