Dillian Whyte will face Dominick Guinn at The O2 on September 12 ahead of his prospective clash with bitter heavyweight rival Anthony Joshua.
Whyte (15-0-KO12) will take on the American - who has won 35 of his 46 fights - for the WBC International Silver heavyweight title on the undercard of Joshua's Commonwealth title clash with unbeaten Scot Gary Cornish.
Guinn, 40, has never been stopped and has taken the likes of Tomasz Adamek, Kubrat Pulev, James Toney and Tony Thompson the distance.
He will be particularly familiar to UK fight fans for winning a points decision over Audley Harrison in California back in 2006.
Victories for Whyte and Joshua would see the pair settle their differences in a professional ring at the same venue for the British title on December 12, giving Olympic champion Joshua the opportunity to avenge an amateur defeat to the Brixton fighter.
Whyte was last in action in Hull on August 1 when he took less than a round to demolish Irineu Costa Junior and crank up the rivalry.
An intriguing night of Sky Sports boxing also sees Dave Ryan defend his Commonwealth light-welterweight title against John Wayne Hibbert in a rematch of May's classic, while Ricky Boylan meets Danny Connor in a Carshalton derby and unbeaten 21-year-old Tommy Martin faces Michael Devine.
Unbeaten youngsters Ohara Davies, Reece Belotti and Lucien Reid are also in action with Ted Cheeseman and Jake Ball making their professional debuts.
