Adonis Stevenson delighted the home fans after retaining his WBC world light-heavyweight title with a third round TKO win over American Tommy Karpency in Toronto.

The bout at the Ricoh Coliseum was the first world title fight in Toronto in 30 years and the partisan home crowd were not left disappointed by the hard-hitting Stevenson.

Stevenson rocked Karpency in the opening round, staggering the challenger with a huge left hand that left the 29-year-old wobbling.

He softened Karpency up further with a straight left hand just shy of the bell in round two that dropped the Pennsylvanian to his knees. And 'Superman' finished Karpency off after 21 seconds of round three with a devastating TKO stoppage.

A jubilant Stevenson chanted "Oh Canada", before calling out IBF, WBA and WBO champion Sergey Kovalev. "C'mon Kovalev - it's time to fight for the unified title." 

In the co-featured bout Errol Spence Jr enhanced his growing reputation with an eighth round stoppage win against South African welterweight Chris Van Heerden.

Undefeated Puerto Rican Prichard Colon also featured on the card, impressing with a fourth round knock-out win against former world light-welterweight champion Vivian Harris.
