Carl Frampton vs Scott Quigg: Shane McGuigan slams Joe Gallagher after tussle

Shane McGuigan questioned Joe Gallagher's courage after the trainers clashed on stage at the Carl Frampton vs Scott Quigg weigh-in.
Despite both world super-bantamweight champions easily making the 122lb-limit, tensions were running high and with IBF holder Frampton approaching the scales, his trainer McGuigan became engaged in a pushing match with Quigg's trainer Gallagher over who would stand where.
McGuigan told Sky Sports afterwards: "Scott had just weighed and Joe had the best view at the scales. Carl came up to weigh in and Joe was still trying to take that best view. I said: 'Do me a favour and move out the way. You've had your chance and you can stand to the right and watch.'
"He wouldn't get out of my way so I told him politely or un-politely to get out of my way. He has given me a lot of stick and I know he can't back it up. He bottles it when the pressure is on him so it's quite funny just to see his hand shaking and trembling because he hates confrontation.
"He gives it but he can't take it. The fact is it's not about me and him - it's about our fighters. We're just assets to our boxers. He tries to take the main spot and the limelight all the time. I told him to get out of my way or he'd pay the consequences."
Gallagher responded: "Frampton's team were trying to get more on the stage than they should do and were trying to breach security so security had to put them in their place."
On the continuing animosity between the pair, McGuigan said: "It's genuine. I respect him as a coach but I don't like him and the fact is that he has been very disrespectful to me in the build-up and hides behind his boxers, talking a really good game.
"Whenever it comes to crunch time and backing it up himself, he doesn't know how to do it and that just came out in a little 10-second clip."
After Thursday's ill-tempered final press conference during which Eddie Hearn waded into a tussle between Frampton and Quigg, quotes attributed to McGuigan emerged claiming he would 'knock out' the Matchroom promoter.
But the young trainer said of the reports: "I didn't say that. I said if Eddie confronts me, I may not be so responsive."
