Campbell - who will face former British title challenger Troy James over six rounds at The O2 - fought Mendy in December 2015, the Frenchman taking a split decision to derail the 2012 Olympic gold medallist's world title ambitions.

The Hull lightweight will have the chance to avenge that career loss should he come through unscathed on the undercard to Tony Bellew's long-awaited return fight with David Haye, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

The winner of the final eliminator will become mandatory for the coveted WBC belt which is currently held by pound-for-pound rated American Mikey Garcia.

Campbell was last in action in September when he narrowly lost a split decision to WBA titlist Jorge Linares in his first tilt at world honours.

Mendy, 32, has remained undefeated since that win over Campbell, picking up the WBC Silver title in the process to cement his position as No 1 with the governing body, just ahead of the Brit.
