The Verdict team give their thoughts on Adam Lyth's dismal displays for England during the Ashes series against Australia

Sky Sports experts deliver The Verdict on England's struggling opener Adam Lyth.

The Yorkshire batsman has endured a poor Investec Ashes series, averaging barely 13 from his eight innings to date in the series.

Another poor showing in England's second innings in the final Test with Australia at The Oval could see him replaced in head coach Trevor Bayliss's future plans.

Bob Willis said: "I thought Adam Lyth should have been left out of the side after the Lord's performance. The England selectors have been very kind to him.

"That shot he played, for a batsman playing for his absolute Test match future, just beggared belief. Did he not watch how (Chris) Rogers and (David) Warner really pulled their feathers in and looked at the opposition bowling very hard for that length of time, to play themselves in?"

Tom Moody and Mark Butcher were also highly critical of Lyth's performance in Friday night's show.
