Luke Procter and Alviro Petersen celebrate hitting the winning runs at Old Trafford.

Lancashire chased down the 86 runs they needed to beat Nottinghamshire on the final day of their first game back in County Championship Division One at Old Trafford.

Openers Karl Brown and Haseeb Hameed fell for single-figure scores to Jake Ball (2-29), but no further final-day drama occurred, as the hosts cruised to an eight-wicket win.

Alviro Petersen struck 31 off 25 balls, while Luke Procter hit 35 from 45, including three fours and a six in one Samit Patel over that confirmed Lancashire's victory.

Sam Robson added to his first-innings double-hundred, with 106 in the second as Middlesex drew with Warwickshire on day four at Lord's.

The hosts closed on 304-6 in their second innings, leading by 288, with Adam Voges (92) the last wicket to fall for the day.

The high-scoring game always seemed destined for a draw, with former England batsman Jonathan Trott also striking a double-century in the match, hitting an unbeaten 219 on day three, although not quite bettering Robson's 231.

Yorkshire struggled to 183-8 in their second innings against Hampshire at Headingley, but manged to hold on to a draw.

Captain Andrew Gale top-scored with only 46 in Yorkshire's second dig, as James Tomlinson took 3-31 to help Hampshire run through the Yorkshire batting order.
