Pakistan have gone top of the ICC Test rankings for the first time after the fourth Test between the West Indies and India ended in a draw.

With India, who only overtook Australia as world No 1 last week, needing a win at Port of Spain to stay at the top of the rankings, only 22 overs were bowled over the five days and no play at all was possible during the final four days.

The West Indies had reached 62-2 in their first innings when the rain came down on day one of the series' final Test and despite bright and sunny weather over the next four four days, a waterlogged outfield prevented any further play.

The result means that India, led by Virat Kohli, end the series as 2-0 winners but drop below Pakistan in the Test rankings.

Misbah-ul-Haq's men reach top spot having avoided defeat in a Test series since 2014, winning four and drawing two in that time, including the recent 2-2 against England.

"There is no greater feeling than to achieve the No 1 ranking in the most traditional and purest format of the sport. This is what cricketers play for and want to achieve in their careers," said Misbah.

"No 1 ranking is a reward for something we had planned as a group a few years ago and have worked extremely hard to achieve it. To top the Test table, which boasts some of the best sides and players, is something to be very proud of.

"I want to compliment everyone who has been involved in the process, including all the players, the support personnel, the management, as well as our loyal fans and followers who remained committed to us and continued to back and support the side through the good and not-so-good days."
