Kevin Pietersen is set to play for Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League again.
Pietersen will return to play for Quetta after last year's inaugural edition in which the Gladiators finished runners-up to Islamabad United.
Although the majority of the tournament will again be held in the United Arab Emirates, it was confirmed at Wednesday's draft in Dubai that the intention is to stage the final at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium next spring.
Pakistan has been unable to host international cricket since 2009, or its own premier Twenty20 tournament to date, because of security concerns and a showpiece final on home ground would be a notable event.
PSL chairman Najam Sethi said: "Everything has been given a green light, and Lahore is ready to host the PSL final."
Former England batsman Pietersen will be joined at the 2017 PSL by his country's current limited-overs captain, Eoin Morgan.
The Irishman, however, is not expected to be available should his team reach the Lahore final - because of a clash with England's one-day international tour of the West Indies in late February and early March.
