England have called up Keaton Jennings and Liam Dawson for the remaining two Tests against India.

Durham opener Jennings is a straight replacement for Haseeb Hameed, who needs surgery on the broken finger he suffered during the third Test defeat in Mohali.

And Zafar Ansari's ongoing back problems have now ruled him out of the final two matches, prompting a summons for Hampshire's Dawson, like Ansari an all-rounder who bowls slow left-arm.

Dawson has played for England in both limited-overs formats but is yet to make his Test debut, while Jennings' call-up is his first and follows a prolific County Championship season.

The left-hander's 1,548 runs made him Division One's heaviest scorer and came at an average of 64.

Both players are due to arrive in Mumbai early next week ahead of the start of the fourth Test at the Wankhede Stadium on December 8, live on Sky Sports.

England must win in Mumbai to stand any chance of avoiding a series defeat, having lost back-to-back games in Vizag and Mohali.

Jennings hopes he will be able to integrate into the squad quickly and will look to county team-mate Ben Stokes to ease the 'getting to know you' process.

"To be going there as a member of the England squad, I'm going to have to introduce myself to a lot of new guys I guess - because a lot of them I only know as opposition," Jennings said.

"I reckon Stokesy will be a good guy to break the ice!

"The England boys have been given a few days off between the Tests, and a couple of them are coming here to Dubai. I think I'll join the squad when they're getting together again for the game in Mumbai."
