INDIA v PAKISTAN SCORECARD

Captain Prithvi Shaw led from the front after electing to bat first and India had raced to 89 without loss in the 16th over before he was run out for 41.

Manjot Kalra (47) was dismissed by Muhammad Musa (4-67) two overs later but Gill continued the openers' good work, scoring at more than a run a ball as, with wickets falling at regular intervals at the other end, he guided India to a competitive total.

Ultimately, it was far more than that as Porel took three wickets in his first four overs to reduce Pakistan to 20-3 and when he claimed his fourth at the start of the 12th over, Pakistan crumbled.

Rohail Nazir top-scored with 18 and was one of only three batsmen to reach double figures. He was dismissed by leg-spinner Riyan Parag (2-6) and it was left to another spinner, Abhishek Sharma, to take the final wicket with Porel, fittingly, taking the winning catch.

The Kiwis looked to be well-placed in their chase thanks to half-centuries from Finn Allen (87) and Katene Clarke (60) but stand-in skipper Will Jacks and off-spinner Euan Woods stopped them in their tracks as the game reached its conclusion.

Seven wickets fell for 28 runs and New Zealand were all out for 229 in the 48th over, having been 201-3 just six overs earlier.
