Peter Moores has left his role as England head coach. The announcement by the ECB came shortly after Andrew Strauss was confirmed as director of cricket

Former England captain Andrew Strauss has been named as Director, England Cricket.

The Sky Sports commentator and pundit had been expected to take up the role, which sees him take responsibility for the long-term strategy of the England men’s cricket team.

Strauss' appointment was quickly followed by the removal of Peter Moores as Head Coach and he will now head up the search for Moores' long-term replacement - Assistant Coach Paul Farbrace will take charge for the upcoming Test series against New Zealand.

Strauss will also be tasked with developing the coaching and management structure to support the England team.
