Durham seamer Chris Rushworth has been named Professional Cricketers' Association Player of the Year, with awards also going to Stuart Broad, Tom Curran and Anya Shrubsole.

Rushworth was the top wicket-taker in LV= County Championship Division One with a tally of 83 scalps at 20.61, while he took a total of 100 wickets in all competitions.

The 29-year-old beat Kent all-rounder Matt Coles, retiring Lancashire batsman Ashwell Prince and Yorkshire and England star Jonny Bairstow to the prestigious award.

"For myself this award is massive and the biggest individual award in county cricket," said Rushworth. "To be voted for by fellow players and your peers is a very privileged moment and one I'm very proud of.

"Hopefully it's the next step to progressing towards further honours; the guys that have won it in recent years have gone on to play Test cricket, like Adam Lyth, Moeen Ali and Nick Compton, so that is definitely in my sights."
