Joe Root continues his blistering form by scoring 200 for Yorkshire

Joe Root warmed up for England duty by completing a double century on day three of Yorkshire's Specsavers County Championship clash with Surrey at Headingley.

Root was caught off Ravi Rampual for 213 from 242 balls having added 23 to his overnight score - the England man falling 23 runs short of his career-best 236, which he hit against Derbyshire in 2013.

The 25-year-old shared stands of 372 with Jonny Bairstow (198) for the fourth wicket - a Yorkshire record - and 96 with Adil Rashid, hitting 22 boundaries and six in the process.

"It was good fun out there," Root told Sky Sports News HQ. "Jonny blew them away and with him scoring so freely at one end it made my life a lot easier.
