Liam Plunkett will play no further part on England's tour of New Zealand after the recurrence of a hamstring strain.
The fast bowler suffered a grade one tear in his left hamstring midway through last month's one-day international series against Australia but remained with the team with the hope of featuring in the Trans-Tasman T20 series.
The 32-year-old sat out the first two matches against Australia but returned in the defeat by New Zealand on Tuesday, when he aggravated the original problem.
After assessment from medical staff, the Yorkshire seamer has now been ruled out of Sunday's rematch, live on Sky Sports Cricket, as well as the five ODIs which follow.
A statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board read: "Liam Plunkett will miss the remainder of the IT20 series and England's ODI series against New Zealand after suffering a minor recurrence of his Grade 1 left hamstring tear during the last IT20.
"An MRI scan today [Friday] confirmed a minor hamstring strain and this will not recover in time to take part in the ODI series.
"A replacement for the ODI squad will be announced in the upcoming days."
Captain Eoin Morgan has missed the last two matches but is expected to be fit for Sunday's outing at Seddon Park.
