Keaton Jennings replaces Mark Stoneman in the only change to England's squad for the second Test against Pakistan at Headingley, which starts on Friday.
The Lancashire opener has scored two centuries in the early weeks of the County Championship season and is set to partner Alastair Cook at the top of the order when England look to level the series after a nine-wicket defeat at Lord's.
Stoneman is the sole victim from that team, having scored 4 and 9 in his two innings, with Middlesex batsman Dawid Malan keeping his place despite only scoring 18 runs at his home ground.
Jennings, 25, has not played for England since last August when he was part of the team that secured a Test series win over South Africa while still playing for Durham.
He has averaged 43.79 in five Division One games so far this season with Lancashire after moving over the off-season.
Somerset spinner Dom Bess is retained after failing to take a wicket at Lord's, but impressing with the bat in the second innings, and Chris Woakes is also included after missing out on the first Test XI.
National selector Ed Smith said: "Keaton Jennings showed a strong temperament in scoring a hundred on his Test match debut against India in December 2016.
"Keaton has found good form in county cricket this season, including three centuries in his last seven innings (two in the First Division of the County Championship, one in the Royal London One-Day Cup)."
