Australia's fast bowling options have taken another knock with Josh Hazlewood forced out of the trip to England with back soreness.

Hazlewood joins fellow quicks Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc in missing the five one-day internationals and single T20 match against their Ashes rivals, while all-rounder Mitch Marsh is also missing.

Uncapped Queensland all-rounder Michael Neser takes Hazlewood's place in an already-inexperienced squad which is also lacking banned trio Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft.

"Josh has been managing some low-level bone stress in his lumbar spine for a short period," said Cricket Australia physiotherapist David Beakley.

"He had a repeat scan and although it has not progressed to a fracture he is starting to experience some lower back pain.

"As such, we are taking a conservative approach and he will not travel to England for the one-day series."

Neser, 28, will join up with the rest of the squad in England and has so far taken 41 List A wickets in 38 games, while averaging 27.73 with the bat.
