A pick of the action from the second day of the first Test between South Africa and England

Morne Morkel and Stuart Broad produced two terrific spells of fast bowling on day two of the opening Test in Durban.

Morkel (4-76) picked up four wickets in the morning session, including the crucial scalp of Nick Compton (85), which triggered a collapse of four wickets for 20 runs, to help dismiss England for 303 in their first innings.

Compton occupied the crease for 236 balls, but misses out on a third Test hundred, and Morkel later added the wickets of Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes off consecutive balls.

His hat-trick ball fizzed past the edge of Stuart Broad's bat - the all-rounder surviving to compile a punchy last-wicket stand of 36 with Steven Finn to take the tourists past 300.

Broad (3-16) continued his fine day, this time with ball in hand, as he took the early wickets of Stiaan van Zyl - bowled second ball - and South Africa captain Hashim Amla caught behind for seven, to the relief of Jonny Bairstow who had earlier dropped him off Chris Woakes.

South Africa rallied to 100-2 but back came Broad to remove the ever-dangerous AB de Villiers (49), who had earlier survived a Ben Stokes catch at gully off Steven Finn that wasn't given when checked by the third umpire with Stokes unsure.

Moeen (1-45) added the wicket of Faf du Plessis for two as England reasserted their advantage, but Dean Elgar remains unbeaten on 67 at the close, with the hosts 137-4, trailing by 166.
