Highlights of Pakistan's remarkable one-wicket victory over England in Lahore

Shadab Khan made a heroic 113no off 96 balls as Pakistan put on an incredible 89-run last-wicket stand to complete an unfathomable one-wicket victory in Lahore, consigning England to the brink of elimination from contention for the ODI tri-series final.

Ben Duckett made an impressive 105 off 111 for his fifth ODI century, but his innings was the lone bright spot in an otherwise disappointing batting performance from England, who were limited to a below-par total of 241 all out after 46.4 overs thanks in large part to the impressive bowling of Shaheen Shah Afridi (4-46).

England's bowlers then decimated Pakistan's top order with Jamie Overton (3-43) impressive and Liam Dawson (2-19) relentless, as the hosts slipped to 154-9 having been 74-3.

Ben Duckett reaches a superb century to lead England's recovery after a disastrous start to their ODI against Pakistan in Lahore.

England's bid to end their barren run of defeats in the tri-series got off to the worst possible start, with in-form opener Banton (4) chipping tamely to Arafat for Shaheen's 150th ODI wicket, before the Pakistan captain struck again with an almost mirrored dismissal of Root (5), who was caught after an uncharacteristically careless slash into the off-side.

Things went from bad to worse for the tourists when ODI debutant Razaullah - who notched an unforgettable 81 off 63 in the third Test against England at Edgbaston in August - fired a brilliant throw into the keeper and ran out Brook to leave England reeling at 19-3.

England suffer a nightmare start to their ODI against Pakistan as they lose three early wickets, including Tom Banton and Joe Root to Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Despite the dismissal of Jordan Cox (6) at the end of the poweplay, Duckett began to lead a resurgence for England, building an impressive 93-run stand with Sam Curran (42 off 52) on his way to his second century in Lahore after his career-best 165 against Australia in 2025 - to bring England back to 145-5 having been 52-4.

Curran's dismissal, though, was the first of a flurry of wickets for Pakistan that saw Duckett out on 105 and England fall from 175-6 to 201-9.

Atkinson (36no) attempted to raise the pace, blasting three sixes in a 40-run last-wicket partnership with debutant Henry Crocombe, but the latter's dismissal consigned England to a below-par total of 241.

Gus Atkinson bowls Babar Azam for 10 as England claim a crucial wicket in their ODI against Pakistan.

Brook's side started quickly with the ball, as Atkinson and Crocombe dismissed Fakhar Zaman (10), Saim Ayub (6), and Babar Azam (10) in 13 powerplay deliveries to give England hope.

A brief Pakistan resurgence led by the impressive Saad Baig (32) was ended by standout bowler Overton - the first of his three wickets - before the dismissal of Hasan Nawaz (15) and Arafat Minhas (1) in the space of three balls left the home side reeling at 103-6 after just 23.1 overs.

All hope seemed lost for Pakistan when Razaullah's (8) wicket put England on the brink of victory, with their opponents stranded with one wicket left and a deficit of 88 runs.

Haris Rauf hits the winning boundary as Pakistan complete an extraordinary one-wicket victory over England, recovering from 154-9 thanks to Shadab Khan's unbeaten 113.

Shadab, whose ensuing heroics saw him smash 12 fours and four maximums, thought his innings was over when the umpire raised the finger after Gus Atkinson's yorker trapped him in front, going as far as to shake hands with his opponents during the review, only for DRS to reveal the faintest of inside edges to keep Pakistan's talisman at the crease.

Pakistan were then 20 runs away, and it was the unlikely hero Rauf who produced a picturesque drive down the ground for the winning boundary that gave his team the most unfathomable of victories with 2.5 overs to spare.

England captain Harry Brook reflects on his side's heartbreaking one-wicket defeat to Pakistan and praises his players' efforts despite Shadab Khan's remarkable match-winning innings.

England captain Harry Brook, speaking at the presentation:

"I don't think it went wrong with the ball, to be honest. I thought we did an exceptional job to restrict them to us nearly winning the game.

"We probably didn't quite get enough runs on the board, but the effort the boys put in with the ball and in the field was phenomenal.

"I couldn't ask for any more.

"Ben Duckett played an exceptional innings - his fifth ODI hundred which came at a good time.

"He played really well and that partnership that he and Sam Curran had together put us in a decent position to kick on.

"Unfortunately we lost a few wickets in quick succession but the way that Gus Atkinson finished the innings off was awesome."

Shaheen: I've never seen an innings like that in my life!

Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, speaking at the presentation:

"The way Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf finished the game with the bat - I have never seen in my life an innings like that.

"I am really happy as a captain. Starting with the bowling, the team effort was top-drawer.

"We thought we had a lot of variation in the team so that's why we brought Shadab in.

"[But] we need top-order runs, we're struggling. I hope the next few games we'll bring that energy."
