Southern Vipers hammered Yorkshire Diamonds by 54 runs in the Kia Super League to secure their third win in three to start the tournament.

By contrast, the Diamonds, who collapsed to 64 all out in pursuit of the Vipers' 118-4, have lost their opening three fixtures.

Vipers skipper Charlotte Edwards won the toss and chose to bat first, but was swiftly dismissed for a first-ball duck by her former England team-mate, Katherine Brunt (2-26).

Brunt added the wicket of Sara McGlashan (6), while further strikes for Shabnim Ismail (1-9) and Katie Levick (1-10) reduced the Vipers to 19-4 in the seventh over.

But vital unbeaten forties from Suzie Bates (45no off 45) and Arran Brindle (45no off 49) saw the the Vipers through to a competitive score, one which proved to be well out of the Diamonds reach.

Yorkshire captain Lauren Winfield (8) was the first to fall as Bates (2-8) and Brindle again combined to good effect, this time as bowler and catcher.
