Alberto Contador has revealed he is likely to postpone retirement and continue racing next year.
The 33-year-old Spaniard had planned for 2016 to be his last season in professional cycling but has had a change of mind after a successful campaign so far.
He finished on the podium at the Volta ao Algarve, Paris-Nice and Volta a Catalunya, and then claimed his first overall win at the Tour of the Basque Country on Saturday.
Speaking after the race, he said: "Recently, I have been pondering and thinking about my future with my entourage and, most probably, I will continue riding. I'm sure this isn't the last time I come here."
Contador is one of the most successful stage racers in history, having won every grand tour at least twice. He is aiming to win the Tour de France for the third time this summer.
Should he continue racing, he will need to find a new team, as his current squad, Tinkoff, are set to fold at the end of this year.
