Craig Slater catches up with Nico Rosberg after the German drives Mercedes' 2016 car for the first time at Silverstone

After driving the new Mercedes 2016 car for the first time, watch what happened when Nico Rosberg was stopped when leaving the Silverstone circuit.

In what was immediately described on social media as 'a Harry Redknapp impersonation', Rosberg was interviewed by Sky Sport News HQ's Craig Slater as he sat in the back seat of his hire car.

"It was a good feeling to start with. I felt at home straight away," said the German, the winner of 2015's final three races.

"I could push as if I raced Abu Dhabi yesterday, so a good beginning."

Mercedes have dominated the last two seasons, winning consecutive championship doubles, but Rosberg insists the threat posed by Ferrari in particular is keeping them on their toes.

"We take our opposition very seriously - especially Ferrari," he added.

"For sure, they are going to be a big threat so we need to keep pushing. Who knows where we are going to be first race."

Having completed both his driving and media duties for the day, Rosberg then drove off to find a fan who had travelled from Wales to watch her hero in action at the British GP venue.

The first Barcelona test starts on Monday February 22 and the Sky Sports F1 Digital team will be providing live commentary from dawn until dusk on all four days of both Barcelona tests while Sky Sports News HQ will also deliver live updates from trackside.
