Bury's longest-serving player Phil Picken has retired from football as a result of his recent knee problems.
The 28-year-old has been with the Shakers since 2010, however he has played just twice in 24 months due to long-term knee injuries. Boss David Flitcroft had hoped to welcome Picken back into his squad in the closing stages of this season but after the full-back suffered another setback recently, he has decided to call it a day.
