Parnaby to get reserve run-out

Stuart Parnaby will return to action for the first time in nearly six months on Wednesday when Hartlepool's reserves take on Gateshead.

The 32-year-old former Middlesbrough and Birmingham defender has made a quicker-than-expected recovery following knee surgery in September. Pools assistant boss Sam Collins told the club's official website: "It's great to see Stuart Parnaby back in action. He's trained for a couple of weeks now and looked absolutely fine so this is the next step for him. "He's been out a long time so we won't push him too hard, but we're playing him in the centre of a back three and hopefully we can get him 45 minutes under his belt." Midfielder Tommy Miller, who last appeared for Pools at the end of October, will also feature as he steps up his bid for a return to first-team action following a long-term calf injury.
