Accrington Stanley have swooped to sign veteran forward Bryan Hughes, who is hoping his experience will boost the team's current form.

The 35-year-old, who has previously played for Charlton and Birmingham among other clubs, has agreed non-contract terms and is now awaiting international clearance. "My friend Dean Windass was doing an Accrington game for Sky TV and spoke to John Coleman saying I was available," he explained in a press release. "He then invited me in and it's all happened very quickly. "It's really exciting to be here. I'm just looking forward to getting back out on the pitch. "Obviously the team are in a little bit of a bad run at the moment and hopefully my experience and ability might give everybody a lift." Hughes will wear the number 27 shirt at the Crown Ground.
