Colt Knost made light of brutal, blustery conditions allied with rain coming down sideways as he made one of the more memorable birdies of his PGA Tour career.
Shortly before play was suspended early on the final day of the Farmers Insurance Open, Knost was on the fearsome par-three third on the South Course at Torrey Pines and knocked his tee shot to 40 feet - that in itself was some achievement in the conditions.
Knost had to back away from the putt and complained to officials that his ball was oscillating in the wind, and he marked his ball before replacing it when the breeze had dropped sufficiently.
And moments later, he sent the putt on a line roughly two yards left of the cup, and a combination of the contours of the green and the howling gale some directed his ball into the hole for an unlikely two.
Knost's superb putt prompted a lap of honour from playing-partner Billy Horschel, and moments later they were heading back to the clubhouse as play was suspended with 51 players on the course - a combined 85 over par!
