We take a look at some of the world's finest golfers taking a dip on the course over the years

After Haydn Porteous caused a stir when he went "Topless at Tshwane" on Thursday, we delved into the archives to find a collection of professionals who have endured water drama over the years.

Richard Finch found himself waist deep in the River Maigue at Adare back in 2008, although that didn't stop him lifting the Irish Open title, while Woody Austin was completely submerged at the Presidents Cup a year earlier - much to the amusement of partner Jim Furyk.

Ian Poulter's fitness coach Kam Bhabra "took one for the team" at Sawgrass in 2004, successfully finding the Englishman's ball while also managing to avoid a confrontation with an alligator, and Pablo Larrazabal memorably used a lake to escape a swarm of hornets in Malaysia.

But the likes of Rory McIlroy show us how it should be done, and Ryder Cup winner Paul McGinley was happy to take the plunge after nailing the winning putt for Europe at The Belfry in 2002.

And, of course, there's THAT moment of Open infamy involving Jean van de Velde at Carnoustie ...
