Thailand's Ariya Jutanugarn wins successive LPGA Tour events

Ariya Jutanugarn secured back-to-back LPGA Tour victories when she held on to win the Kingsmill Championship in Virginia.

The Thai professional made a series of pressure-packed pars on the back nine in Williamsburg to deny the last-day charge of Australia's Su Oh, finishing on 14 under thanks to a round of 67.

Jutanugarn had become the first player from her country to win on the tour two weeks ago when she claimed the LPGA Classic in Alabama.

She started the final 18 holes with the lead, but dropped a shot at the second before showing off her new-found confidence by bouncing back with birdies at three and four.

Jutanugarn made two more birdies on the front nine, but she was more than matched by teenager Oh, who birdied five out of seven holes from the third to get within a shot of the lead.

Oh, who turns 20 on Monday, dropped a stroke at the 12th but got that back at the long 15th, where Jutanugarn also made birdie to keep hold of her two-shot advantage.

The young Australian made another birdie at the closing hole, but Jutanugarn made a safe par to close out victory, putting further behind her the memories of her collapse at the ANA Inspiration earlier this year when she finished with three bogeys to throw away a chance of a maiden major victory.

"I didn't get nervous," Jutanugarn said. "I didn't get excited until the last putt.

"Right now we have a lot of players starting to play golf, a lot of juniors, and if I can inspire somebody, it's really great. I hope a lot of players come to the LPGA."

Korea's Sei Young Kim and Gerina Piller of the United States shared third place on 12 under after closing their respective tournaments with rounds of 66.
