Thomas Bjorn received a huge slice of fortune on his way to a memorable hole-in-one ahead of the Paul Lawrie Match Play.

Ahead of this week's tournament, live on Sky Sports, the Dane was taking part in the contest alongside fellow Ryder Cup vice-captain Lawrie and Italy's Edoardo Molinari.

The nearest to the pin challenge at Archerfield had an added challenge, with a series of champagne bottles circling the hole.

Lawrie saw his first effort race past the pin and couldn't get his next two attempts any closer than a few feet from the target, but looked on in shock at Bjorn's opening try.

Bjorn's opening wedge shot pitched several feet left of the flag, only to take a big deflection off one of the bottles on the green and roll in to the centre of the cup for an ace.
