Matt Fitzpatrick nailed this 78-foot eagle to move up the leaderboard in Dubai

Matt Fitzpatrick produced one of the putts of the season on his way to moving into contention during the third round of the DP World Tour Championship.

The Ryder Cup star posted a six-under 66 during an impressive display in Dubai, where he temporarily took the lead with a moment of magic at the par-five seventh.

Reaching the hole off the back of successive gains, Fitzpatrick found the green in two but left himself nearly 80 feet from the flag.

Fitzpatrick then judged his eagle attempt perfectly, seeing his effort smash the back of the cup before dropping in to temporarily give him a share of the lead.

The Englishman ended the day one off the pace in a tie for second alongside Tyrrell Hatton and Nicolas Colsaerts, and remains confident of victory heading into the final round.
