Sergio Garcia fired an errant tee shot straight into a cameraman during an up-and-down start to the week at the Genesis Open.

The Spaniard struggled to a one-over 72 at Riviera Country Club in his first start since winning the Dubai Desert Classic, with one shot standing out from his opening round.

Garcia birdied his opening hole - the 10th - and mixed a hat-trick of bogeys from the 12th with back-to-back gains from the 16th.

A dropped shot at the second was followed with a 30-foot birdie at the fourth, before Garcia gave a cameraman a fright with a stray tee shot at the par-four eighth.

Garcia's drive sprayed left and seemingly towards danger, clattering into a cameraman before landing safely with a decent lie.

Although the cameraman was thankfully not injured by the incident, Garcia wasn't able to save par and slipped further down the leaderboard.
