Pat Perez saw a stray tee shot clatter into the head of a spectator during the third round at Riviera

Pat Perez has been criticised by golf players and spectators after hitting three fans in separate incidents during the third round of the Genesis Open.

The American was level par for the day when he made his way to the par-four 12th, where Perez's drive flew straight on to the head of an unsuspecting fan situated right of the fairway.

A bogey-five was followed by another at the 15th, where Perez fired another wayward tee shot which clattered into the leg of another spectator.

Perez didn't warn the crowds with the traditional shout of "fore" on either occasion, with Shane Lowry one of those unimpressed by the American's behaviour.

The Irishman tweeted: "What's it gonna (sic) take for players to start shouting fore. A signed ball or glove is no good to anyone if they are seriously injured???"
