Phil Mickelson left little need for his putter as he delivered a short game masterclass during the final round of the Genesis Open

Beginning on the back nine, Mickelson surged up the leaderboard with two eagles and a birdie on his way to reaching the turn at Riviera Country Club in 32.

Mickelson opened with an eagle-two from the 10th rough, pitching his ball over the greenside bunker and watching it gently roll into the cup.

After a three-putt bogey at the 15th, Mickelson eagled the par-five 17th after seeing his chip from off the green take a couple of short hops before trickling in to the hole.

The 46-year-old made a third chip-in at the very next hole, finding the perfect chip and run to guide his ball in from the rough just off the green.
