Ian Poulter encounters alligator after finding water at Harbour Town
Saturday 15 April 2017 21:33, UK
Ian Poulter saw his round disrupted by an alligator after a stray tee shot at the RBC Heritage.
The Englishman fired four birdies on the front nine to reach the turn in a share of the lead alongside Webb Simpson, only to spray his tee shot at the par-four 10th into the hazard at Harbour Town Golf Links.
Poulter had to take penalty drop for his ball going into the water, before finding a hazard of a different kind when he reached the spot on the bank for his next shot.
A large alligator was lurking by the water's edge and left Poulter reluctant to play his shot, fearing the reptile could snatch his club or even come for him!
Initial attempts to shoo the alligator away weren't successful, leaving Poulter and his playing partners to try alternative ways to get it out of the way.
