Tiger Woods went into the TPC Sawgrass in 2001 in history-making form, having claimed the final three majors the previous year, but was six strokes off the pace at the halfway stage.

Woods had seen that deficit cut to two strokes by the time he made his way to the par-three 17th, where the-then world No 1 found dry land off the tee, but saw his ball perched on the fringe some 60 feet of the flag.

Faced with a moving putt that was going to have to break in several different directions, Woods' putt broke left and gathered pace as it raced down the slope.

Woods' ball then turned sharply and found the right-edge of the cup for an unlikely birdie, helping him sign for a third-round 66 on his way to a one-shot win over Vijay Singh.
